Cherayi: Protesting against the official laxity in constructing a bridge at Pallipuram here, the women residents boycotted elections and staged a stir by standing in neck-deep water.
Hundreds of housewives participated in the protest that was staged under the aegis of Janakeeya Samithi. Their family members too joined them.
Daisy Johnson, Praseetha, Neeja Baburaj, Bhagyam and Deepti headed the protest.
Raising this demand, the housewives had also boycotted the campaign tour of major fronts and also had blocked traffic on Cherayi Dewaswom Nada last week.
